Young People's Service
Lets Work Through It Counselling & Therapy Services
Counselling Young People has been a pivotal part of my practice alongside working with Adults. From teaching & mentoring Young Offenders, supporting Young homeless into independent living and counselling in Secondary Schools, a College & a University, I have been able to gain extensive experience in understanding and working with Young People.
How the Counselling Process can support a Young Person
The transition from child to adolescent and from adolescent to young adult can bring with it an array of relational, societal & cultural pressures. At points in their lives, Young People, may find it difficult negotiating their journey into adulthood. Relationships, Education, Social Media, the pressure to do well, accomplish & have aspirations and to 'fit in' are just a few of the issues that our Young People face on a daily basis.
Many Young People feel they don’t have a voice, and/or that others don't understand them. Anger, frustration, sadness, anxiety, depression may be emotions that a Young Person may be trying to manage. Counselling can help identify and articulate a Young Person's thoughts and feelings around finding their own voice. Young People are then able to become more self aware and have a wider understanding of others. From this, emotional strength and resilience can be built.
